What was it about E.L. Sanders Insurance that convinced you it was the right place when you joined the team in 2006?
The reputation of E.L. Sanders in the insurance community and Southern Maryland community. I started at an insurance company, and not all agencies have a good reputation with the carriers that they write for.
E.L. Sanders was a highly regarded and respected agency by the insurance industry. When I was looking to move back to the area, I asked family and friends in Southern MD who they recommended or saw as the top agency, and it was always E.L. Sanders.
What do you see as the key to building great client relationships?
Remember that you work for them. Do what is right for the client and they will notice and spread the word.
Tell me about a time that really stands out where you were able to help a client through a really tough situation?
A couple of claims examples that stick out for me are:
- Helping a client after one of their employees was killed on the job. Assuring them that the employee’s family would be taken care of and he wouldn’t lose his business.
- Helping a client navigate the uninsured motorist world when he was severely injured in a hit and run.
After more than 15 years, what’s your favorite part of working at E.L. Sanders?
Providing insurance solutions for my clients. Even though insurance commercials would lead you to believe that insurance is simple and all is the same, it isn’t. With few exceptions, there isn’t a standard product to fit you (person, family, farm) or your business. Crafting a policy that works for the client comes with knowledge and experience. I enjoy tailoring the coverage to work in the clients favor.
What do you enjoy doing most outside of work?
Hunting, fishing, boating and farming
