Bambi PorterIf ever Bambi Porter needs to be reminded of just how important her work can be, she needs only think back to the time when her wise counsel saved a client from a complete loss when their home burned in a fire.

It’s just one example of why Bambi is one of our most valued agents. We are so fortunate to have had her on our team for more than two decades. She migrated south from the snowy mountains of Vermont and found a second family with E.L. Sanders Insurance Agency.

Check out this month’s Spotlight Q&A to learn more about Bambi Porter!

How did you originally get connected with E.L. Sanders Insurance?
I was looking for a family-run business much like the one I left in Vermont. Sanders Insurance had the same values and standards I was looking for.

What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy making sure our clients have the right coverage for their business. I enjoy developing personal relationships with my clients.

Tell me about a particular client or situation where you felt you were really able to make a positive difference for them.
I had a client many years ago that lost everything in a fire. They were renters, and I had convinced them they needed renters insurance. When I got to the location of the fire, the man was walking toward me holding his hand out to me. In his hand, he held his sobriety chips from the last 15 years. He was crying and so was I. He hugged me and thanked me over and over for convincing them to purchase that renter’s policy.

What brought you to Southern Maryland, and what do you enjoy most about living here?
My fiancé lived in the area at the time. It was time for a change and I couldn’t be happier to have made that change. Twenty-five years later, we are still glad we chose this area and each other.

What do you miss most about Vermont?
Other than family, I miss the mountains.

What makes E.L. Sanders a great place to work?
The people!!!

What do you enjoy most outside of work?
Spending time with my family. I love to read and go to flea markets. Being a member of our local Lions Club has been much fun. … And of course our 3 cats!!
